MALLARD

The wild Mallard is reputed to be the origin of all domestic ducks, excepting the Muscovy.  To keep and show this breed in South Australia each bird must be rendered flightless by pinioning.  A number of colours are available

MUSCOVY

The biggest of all the duck breeds, and the drake being nearly twice the size of the duck, hence their reputation as table birds.  The ducks lay only a few eggs before going broody.  The birds shown are usually quite big compared to the common type, which ducks are prone to flight and should be enclosed.  The breed does well on the show circuit.  A number of colours exist.
