ORPINGTON
A duel purpose breed, only available in the Buff colour.  Medium in size, hardy, good layers and quick maturing table birds, making them an ideal utility breed.

PEKIN
Bred originally as a table bird and still used extensively for this  purpose today.  A very popular show duck, often achieving best bird awards.  They are a big placid creamy white breed, the ducks lay quite well and brood the young which grow out quickly.  Some infertility problems are
encountered.

                                              PENGUIN


ROUEN
Possibly the most attractive breed of domesticated poultry.  Exquisitely patterned plumage on a massive body.  A docile, slow moving bird, that performs well in the show pen.  The ducks are not renown as layers and fertility problems exist

RUDDY SHELDUCK
A rare ornamental variety, most suitable for aviaries.

SILVER APPLEYARD
A good all round utility duck, lays well and is an excellent table bird, also ornamental.  This breed has also been Bantamised.

WELSH HARLEQUIN
The Welsh Harlequin is a utility duck which also happens to be very attractive in appearance. It is a prolific layer and was originated in 1949 from two sports in a flock of Khaki Campbells

GEESE

AFRICAN
The African goose is a larger relative of the Chinese goose. Both breeds are thought to have developed from the wild swan goose which they closely resemble. African geese are highly regarded as a table bird

CHINESE
A light weight breed, elegant and intelligent, often used as watchdogs and weeder geese.  Fair layers, good temperament, fertility and hatchability.  Noisiness probably excludes them from suburban domains.

CRESTED
This breed is characterised by its crest, and is possibly a variety of the small bodied Roman.

EGYPTIAN
A small bodied bird on long legs, with its brilliant colouring makes it a very attractive  ornamental.

EMBDEN
This tall upstanding, defiant, aristocratic bird is the largest of the geese breeds.  Of snow white plumage, hardy, but poor layers and very aggressive whilst brooding the goslings.

PILGRIM
Sex linked breed. Males are white and females grey Taken to the east coast of North America by early British settlers known as the pilgrim fathers.

SEBASTAPOL
An ornamental breed, with its unique curled feather formation. of medium size, docile and easily contained, however some extra care is required to maintain the feather condition.

TOULOUSE
An old French breed, popular as a table bird.  With its massive body and intricate plumage.  The pure bred is an eye catching show bird.  Some of this breed are crossbred with other varieties to produce farm geese which provide more eggs and goslings.

MUSCOVY
The biggest of all the duck breeds, and the drake being nearly twice the size of the duck, hence their reputation as table birds.  The ducks lay only a few eggs before going broody.  The birds shown are usually quite big compared to the common type, which ducks are prone to flight and should be enclosed.  The breed does well on the show circuit.  A number of colours exist.

NEW ZEALAND SCAUP
A rare ornamental variety, best suited for aviaries.
MALLARD
The wild Mallard is reputed to be the origin of all domestic ducks, excepting the Muscovy.  To keep and show this breed in South Australia each bird must be rendered flightless by pinioning.  A number of colours are available.
